I am happy that it is Friday, but I do have to work the whole weekend. I was suppose to waitress tonight in the Boathouse, but was mysteriously switched on the scheduale to the boat.
That made my day! One less night dealing with obnoxious familys and blah couples. Now I get to cruise around the lake for two hours and pour drinks for 48 people. And I probably will make more doing that than doing waitressing!

1) I watched Private Practice last night, and was very impressed. I think that it will turn out to be my new favorite show for the winter
2) I have gotten sooooooo much work done today it’s ridiculous. If I were this productive everyday it’s would be amazing as to what could be done!
3) Project Runway has announced it’s start date, November 14. I have been waiting for this for months!
4) Only 8 more day until we head to the Dominican Republic!

This all started with a stupid Facebook application. And for the record, can I just say how annoying all those shitty applications are! Ahhh, they drive me crazy. I have a few applications on my page, but they aren’t all shitty and gaudy and annoying.
There is one that I found that I really like…it’s the I’d Rather Be application. It gives you a list of all the things one might rather be doing than sitting at their computer looking at facebook.
Isn’t there always something you rather be doing? Even I was swimming with dolphins in New Zealand, i probably be wishing that I was sitting in a spa in Thailand. Or if I was sitting in a spa in Thailand, i would probably rather be climbing a glacier in Chile. It’s a never ending cycle.
What would you rather be doing?

My college homecoming is next week, and I was planning on making an apperance. I am giving that a second thought for two reasons.
Firsty, we are leaving for Dominican Republic on Saturday morning at 6:10am. That means we have to be at Ohare at 4:30am. Damn, that’s early.
Secondly, I have gained a lot of weight since college and am really embarassed about it. I wish that I could lose 25 pounds by next Friday, but that’s not a reality. So that 25 pounds will be come off before March 7, 2008, by 26th birthday. And if i reach that goal, then I get to go back to India. I have to have some motivation, and that will another trip to India!

I feel yucky today. I have a little fever, my throat hurts so much i can barely swallow and i have horrible cramps. And to add to the mess, I have to go bartend on the boat tonight and it’s really windy, and i am going to get sea(lake) – sick. I can only imagine how I will be feeling after this wonderful hour long charter. I hope that it won’t be me puking on the side of the boat…..

My boss has been gone since Thursday. It’s been a little creepy sitting in this 120 year old building that creaks and squeaks and cracks at all hours of the day. I have been pretty lonely and that forced me to go home on Friday and do the typing for the website on my laptop.
I have gotten a lot of work done by myself, though I get distracted very easily…..reading blogs, browsing Target.com, facebook, and looking at photos on National Geographic’s website.
It’s been pretty sweet, because along with all those things I have also: completely rewrote our entire website, wrote up our fall newsletter, and begun to write a grant. yes!

I just booked a little getaway to Florida. I know we went just three weeks ago, but I have a goal of going away once a month during the fall/winter/spring. Otherwise, I will go nutty being stuck in Wisconsin. Did I mention, this is the first winter I have spent in the W in three years!!!
But the most exciting thing is that I rented a car. It’s the first time that I have ever rented a car, because I am 25 going on 26. No extra fees for me….

We have a nature center here at camp, but during the winter all of the animals are brought into the office. It’s then my responsiblity to make sure that they are feed, watered, and handled.
We have a huge tank of goldfish, they don’t take much to look after but when one dies I just have to fish it out!
There is a fiesty little iguana that I am terrified of. He likes to jump and run and swing his tail and jump out of his cage. I haven’t picked him up in months. The last time I did pick him up, I was at my desk and he was on my shoulder, he jumped off and fell between my desk and wall. I thought that we would never see him again, but no, he had clung onto the phone cord. After that, I just can’t work up the nerve to take him out of his cage.
We have a 4 foot snake. I never used to mind the snake and it sure didn’t bother me to pick it up. But since about April, he has been grossing me out. We have to feed it two live mice every two weeks. I would rather touch the snake than the mice, so it’s a job shared between my boss and I. It’s usually pretty funny and there is lots of screaching and throwing about. But it gets done.
There is a rabbit. We just keep him outside and sometimes I take him out and he likes to hop away and then I have to run after him. He’s pretty low maintance and just likes to gnaw on his cage all the time.
And this nasty turtle that we have. I just cleaned his tank and put in a new water pump. The filter ALREADY needs to be changed that’s how dirty he is. I also put in a total of 13 goldfish yesteday. These would usually last him a few months as he doesn’t eat them very often. Well, this morning I went to feed the fish and there were only 2 left. He ate 11 goldfish in the span of twelve hours, the only reason he didn’t eat the other two are because they are too big for his little mouth. What a pig!
And lastly, we have my favorite tortoise, Toby. He is great except when he feels the need to try and escape his tank and just bangs on it for hours and hours. Everytime that happens we just throw some lettuce in there and he eats and then is quiet for a few hours. I dont’ know if tortoises can get fat, but he would be, with all the lettuce we give him!
It’s a crazy zoo up in this office. And I swear there are raccoons living in the walls too!

Someone tonight asked me where is the best place to have a relaxing holiday in Thailand.
There are many places but my most memorable day of relaxation in Thailand happened on the island of Kho Samui.
It’s a crazy, toursit ridden island. But someone recommended this fabolous spa to us when we got to our hotel.
I was used to spending about 1000 baht (20 USD) a day on extras (food, activity, shopping). We went to this magical place set up on the side of a hill overlooking the clear-blue ocean and they talked us into spending 5000 baht on a spa treatment.

Well, it was the best 52 USD that I had spent in ages. I had a half hour of sauna and plunge pool action. All wrapped in a nice peice of cloth.
Then it was into the treatment gazebo where there were about a dozen huge beds overlookign the ocean. I had a one hour body scrub, followed by a one hour thai massage and a one hour facial. Yum, yum.
It was like being in paradise, and then we went down to the beach and enjoyed a wonderful seafood dinner.
If you have never had a thai-massage, you are definetly missing out. It involves the whole body and lots of cracking of the back and places you never thought could crack. On my way to India in March I had to spend 24 hours in Bangkok. I had two thai massages while I was there, I just couldn’t get enough and the fact that they were about 10 USD an hour (in classy places) I couldn’t resist.
That was the life and if I could go back, I would, and I would do a couple of days of spas.

I feel a little down tonight as I have nothing to look forward to (travel-wise) after October 10.
We booked a trip to Dominican Republic for five days with another couple. We will enjoy some sun, drinks and beach.
But after that what will I look forward to?
I mean, I have done some amazing things this summer. Traveled New Zealand, laid on a Fijian beach in the middle of the pacific, spent a day walking around the streets of Bangkok, then spent a total of 14 hours in the Bangkok airport, went to India and saw the Taj Mahal. I mean all that in one year, what more could I want?
Well, i want much more and I am addicted to traveling. I spend at least an hour a day looking on the internet for a cheap trip.
And after Dean and i get married, we won’t be able to leave the country until he gets his green card which could be years! Just shoot me now!
Alright, I better get some quality travel in in the next few months.
