Sitting On The Edge of Our Seats

October 23, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Deano had applied for a job and we are still waiting to hear back about it.  It’s been almost a month since he applied and a week since his interview.  We are hoping for the best, but I am getting some vibes that make me wonder whether or not he actually got it.

And if he did get it, it would make life soooooo much easier.  We would have housing, significant income and some stability.   It would give me a chance to go back to school and neither of us would have to work at Gordy’s to bring in extra cash.  We wouldn’t be able to live the high life, but we would be able to focus on our future.

If he doesn’t get it, I am going to be one pissed off person.  He says that I shouldn’t be, but, damn, doesn’t 13 years of experience and dedication count for something?  And will I actually be able to work with the person who beat him to it.  It may even result in me quitting my job.    And not to mention the pressure he will put on me, he will want to go somewhere and live and travel and not be here.  And with the right pressure, I would happily go.

But until we find out, there is nothing more to do.

A Night Of Luxury

October 18, 2007 · Leave a Comment

It’s going to be a wonderful evening.  Dean is at work and I have the hugh Pottery Barn overstuffed couch to myself.  And an asian chicken salad from Panera and I am going to watch Ugly Betty, Greys and a re-run of Private Practice on my lap-top.  I can’t wait!

Airplane Pet Peeves

This past sequence of flights was extremely annoying.  People have no plane etiquette at all anymore

1) Don’t bring your entire wardrobe as a carry-on.  I witnessed people bringing on three BAGS of luggage on the plane and taking up an entire overhead bin, leaving zero space for my small hand luggage.  It’s gotten out of hand, and the flight attendants don’t do anything about it..

2) Don’t get up every 12 minutes to go to the toilet when you are sitting next to the window and you have to ask two people to get up so you can get out.  If you know you are going to get up that often, get an aisle seat.

3) Don’t get up and stand in the middle of the aisle for a half an hour with your nasty belly in my face.  It makes grosses me out and makes me uncomfortable.

4) Don’t get up when the flight attendants are doing food/beverage service.  There isn’t enough room in the aisles for you to go for a leisurely walk.  If you let them just do their job, they would be done much faster than if you get up and expect them to move back and forth to accommodate you.

Ok, that’s enough ranting for now.

Magical Holiday

October 13, 2007 · Leave a Comment

We just got back from a wonderful holiday in the Dominican Republic.  It was nice and warm and when we get back, it’s freeeeeezzzzzzing.

We were a little skeptical about the resort and the flight because we only paid $500 per person for the package (air, room, food and booze).  But it was wonderful!

It took us a good 24 hours to get used to the idea that you can eat and drink as much as you want whenever you want.  We sat on the beach on the first day and took turns running to the bar to refill on bloody mary’s and pina coladas and rum and cokes (not all together).

We ate at a few restaurants and didn’t have to worry about what the bill was going to be because it was all included!!

We got merry on red wine (not the best and I guarantee there was some grape juice mixed in).  Went to some evening entertainment and drunkenly made it to the snack bar to discover we could have anything that we wanted!

I would have liked to see more of Dominican Republic, but it was a two hour taxi ride from the airport so we got to see a little of the countryside.

TGIF

I am happy that it is Friday, but I do have to work the whole weekend. I was suppose to waitress tonight in the Boathouse, but was mysteriously switched on the scheduale to the boat.

That made my day! One less night dealing with obnoxious familys and blah couples. Now I get to cruise around the lake for two hours and pour drinks for 48 people. And I probably will make more doing that than doing waitressing!

Four Exciting Things!

September 27, 2007 · Leave a Comment

1) I watched Private Practice last night, and was very impressed. I think that it will turn out to be my new favorite show for the winter

2) I have gotten sooooooo much work done today it’s ridiculous. If I were this productive everyday it’s would be amazing as to what could be done!

3) Project Runway has announced it’s start date, November 14. I have been waiting for this for months!

4) Only 8 more day until we head to the Dominican Republic!

Finding Inner Peace

September 26, 2007 · Leave a Comment

This all started with a stupid Facebook application. And for the record, can I just say how annoying all those shitty applications are! Ahhh, they drive me crazy. I have a few applications on my page, but they aren’t all shitty and gaudy and annoying.

There is one that I found that I really like…it’s the I’d Rather Be application. It gives you a list of all the things one might rather be doing than sitting at their computer looking at facebook.

Isn’t there always something you rather be doing? Even I was swimming with dolphins in New Zealand, i probably be wishing that I was sitting in a spa in Thailand. Or if I was sitting in a spa in Thailand, i would probably rather be climbing a glacier in Chile. It’s a never ending cycle.

What would you rather be doing?

My New Goal

September 25, 2007 · Leave a Comment

My college homecoming is next week, and I was planning on making an apperance. I am giving that a second thought for two reasons.

Firsty, we are leaving for Dominican Republic on Saturday morning at 6:10am. That means we have to be at Ohare at 4:30am. Damn, that’s early.

Secondly, I have gained a lot of weight since college and am really embarassed about it. I wish that I could lose 25 pounds by next Friday, but that’s not a reality. So that 25 pounds will be come off before March 7, 2008, by 26th birthday. And if i reach that goal, then I get to go back to India. I have to have some motivation, and that will another trip to India!

yuck

I feel yucky today. I have a little fever, my throat hurts so much i can barely swallow and i have horrible cramps. And to add to the mess, I have to go bartend on the boat tonight and it’s really windy, and i am going to get sea(lake) – sick. I can only imagine how I will be feeling after this wonderful hour long charter. I hope that it won’t be me puking on the side of the boat…..

Sweet As!

September 24, 2007 · Leave a Comment

My boss has been gone since Thursday. It’s been a little creepy sitting in this 120 year old building that creaks and squeaks and cracks at all hours of the day. I have been pretty lonely and that forced me to go home on Friday and do the typing for the website on my laptop.

I have gotten a lot of work done by myself, though I get distracted very easily…..reading blogs, browsing Target.com, facebook, and looking at photos on National Geographic’s website.

It’s been pretty sweet, because along with all those things I have also: completely rewrote our entire website, wrote up our fall newsletter, and begun to write a grant. yes!
